Her Majesty's message for Commonwealth Day 2022
"In February 1952, when The Queen acceded to the throne, she also became Head of the Commonwealth – a family of nations, spanning every geographical region, religion and culture."
A video posted today on the Royal Family’s Facebook page includes the above comment:
In February 1952, when The Queen acceded to the throne, she also became Head of the Commonwealth – a family of nations, spanning every geographical region, religion and culture.
Indeed, it includes 54 nations and somewhere around 2.4 billion people: nearly a third of the world's population (and incredibly, slightly more than the ENTIRE world's population, the year that I was born: 1965! But that's another story...).
This Commonwealth Day, take a look back at Her Majesty’s service to the Commonwealth over the last 70 years.
A very happy Commonwealth Day 2022 to all my UK and other Commonwealth readers! Click on the image below or follow this link for the video retrospective mentioned above.
